Through the Looking Glass is a fully integrated, narrative-driven co-bill from Alex Mundy and Friday’s Child — rooted in Americana, folk, and modern roots music, and presented as one continuous live experience.

Rather than separate sets, the evening unfolds as a shared musical journey, with both artists stepping in and out of each other’s catalogues. Songs are reimagined and woven together to create a seamless arc — more like a carefully constructed story than a traditional concert lineup.

Inspired by the communal spirit of 1960s “Happenings,” the show invites audiences to slow down, put their phones away, and fully inhabit the room. Warm harmonies, rich acoustic textures, and a western-tinged atmosphere frame an immersive experience built on presence, collaboration, and storytelling

About Alex Mundy 

A roots-pop artist with a voice that has been hailed as “raw and powerful,” Alex Mundy has been writing and performing music for almost a decade. In 2019, she was selected as one of the winners of the YGK Emerging Musician Competition in Kingston, Ontario. In the same year, her single, “Oleander” was selected as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition out of Nashville, Tennessee, where she was judged by the likes of Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and Tom Waits. Suffice it to say, Alex Mundy is a powerhouse writer with a story to tell.

In her own words: “When I have something to say, music is my megaphone. The writing process is my therapy. Everything makes more sense once I’ve written it into a song.” Alex is documenting these stories through her debut album, set to be released later in 2026. Her first single from the album, "Where We Are," was recently featured on WPBS, and the accompanying music video was featured in the Kingston Canadian Film Festival. With songs that exude a powerful nostalgic quality, indelible melodies, and lyrical honesty, Alex Mundy is ready to share her stories on a bigger stage.

About Friday’s Child Bio

Friday’s Child is the potent musical union of singer-songwriter Krista Van Slingerland and multi-instrumentalist/engineer Evan Massey. Formerly married and now longtime creative partners, the duo delivers an intimate and powerful live Americana experience that hushes rooms with layered harmonies, lyrical depth, and rare emotional transparency.

After seven years of writing and performing together across multiple projects, Krista and Evan began releasing music as Friday’s Child in 2025. During the dissolution of their marriage, they recorded their first full-length album together, raising $7,000 in 30 days via Kickstarter to bring the project to life. The result is Broken Home (Vol. 1) — a collection of songs that traces love, fracture, memory, and resilience with unflinching honesty.

Their debut single, “Fault Lines,” received Canadian radio airplay, while their bluegrass tune “Wildflower” was licensed for the feature film 115, directed by Dave Macon, in 2024. Their appearance on the Kingston Live podcast (Episode #81), exploring the origins of the project, became the show’s most-listened-to episode of 2025 on Spotify.

At its heart, Friday’s Child is a testament to what can remain when everything else changes — a partnership rooted in musicianship, vulnerability, and the enduring power of love in all its forms.
